It's the easiest thing in the world to get caught up in the ebb and flow of life and not realize that the life is actually being sucked completely out of you. As you get older you realize that every once in a while you have to pull the weeds from the garden. Technology has made it so easy for those weeds to creep up into our every day lives. Lucky for us it also gives you tools to get rid of them.

1. DELETING

When you're going through your timeline and you see someone's posts and reading it immediately puts your stomach in a knot and burns your throat. It automatically brings your fingers to the keyboard to type all those thoughts from head to the screen...don't. Instead take 30 seconds and just delete it. You'll never know how much happiness that you save from being destroyed by simply cleaning out a friends list.

2. UNFOLLOWING

I don't know if you guys have heard of this, but if you have a family member or someone that you can't necessarily delete from your media completely, you can unfollow them. Basically this just means you can't see their posts unless search for them but for all intents and purposes they are still your "FRIEND".

3. GET UP EARLIER

When you get up early you have more time to spend on yourself at the beginning of your day. Spending time on you boosts your confidence and makes you more prepared to take on your day. You owe it to yourself to do this.

4. AVOID NEGATIVE PEOPLE

This is a little more complicated since sometimes we work with these people or they may be a family member or even an in-law. However, if you restrict yourself to only using the high road when dealing with them and just in general interacting with them as little as you possibly can your world will be a lot less stressful.

5. SELF ACCOUNTABILITY

It can be easy for us to pass the issue off on someone else and think they are our problem. Sometimes you have to take a look deep within yourself and realize the bad vibes you're bringing into your own life. That's something only you can change and no amount of blaming others will make you happy again.

Life is hard, remember that you can be sunshine on bad days to everyone you come in contact with on a daily basis. Remember that helping other people feel better can make you feel better too. Surrounding yourself with positive people/things will help you become a more positive person. Stay kind, and bright in a world that is not and seeks to bring you down with it.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
