5 Ways To Relieve Back To School Stress

If any of you are like me stressing about going back to school is inevitable. I've been trying hard this summer to not overthink it all so much, I'm going into my third year of college, I've done this all before. Yet with a new major and all new professors and subjects, stress is going to happen. However, I've learned this summer tips and tricks of keeping myself organized and prepared for this school year.

1. Make sure you have your schedule set early on in the summer.

Most schools make sure that you have your schedule for next semester set before your current one is even over. Some schools though do not, if you go to one of those schools take initiative and look up some classes yourself to try and get yourself prepared for the next semester.

2. Research easy ways to decorate your living space.

Instead of spending hundreds of dollars on your dorm or house decorations, look up some cute DIY ideas or even go bargain hunting! I found some of my cutest room decorations (its beach themed, btw) at a small little shop down actually down at the beach and found some adorable cheap items.

3. Don't go too fancy on supplies.

Buying school books sucks, we can all agree on that. When it comes to buying school supplies, were in college now we don't necessarily need the fancy 5 subject three ring binder with pencil pockets and a charger built in. Sounds cool? Yeah. Necessary? Nope. To relieve some of your financial stress just go for the simple college ruled notebooks and pocket folders. All of the top of the line fancy supplies are nice and cute but not needed all of the time.

4. If you have an agenda, use it!

If you don't have an agenda, get one! It helps keep your life planned out and ensures most things don't just pop up out of nowhere. I know in high school we all made fun of them and barely used them to write our homework in. In college, though, mostly every sorority, sport, and club has their whole semester planned out ahead of time. Put your school, personal, and work schedule all in your agenda to make sure nothing overlaps before you even get to school.

5. Enjoy what's left of summer

I know school is looming for all of us and it's coming whether we want it to or not so we shouldn't really stress about the things we can't help. So enjoy those last few weeks of summer and try to stay cool with your friends and family before you move back to school and classes start, they'll miss you when you're gone and you'll miss them just as much.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
