During the school year, many students have jobs at their college or university's city, but when summer vacation comes around, most students travel home for three months and leave their jobs until the Fall. Summer jobs are difficult to find, especially when employers want to hire committed people who will be around for a while. If you fall into this category, here are 5 ways you can make money this summer (that don't involve getting an actual job).
1. Sell your gently used items.
Have an online yard sale and sell your gently used clothes, shoes, accessories, and other items for reasonable prices. Ebay and Facebook are my top choices when I want to sell something. Plato's closet is also a good place to go, but you'll usually make more money off using one of these websites.
2. Craft and sell your hand made items.
Crafting is all the craze right now. If you find yourself going overboard but don't know what to do with all your cute creations, selling your items is a great way to profit off your hobby. You can sell your crafts at weekend farmer's markets, flea markets, and even on retail websites like Etsy.
3. Secret Shopper
This is an older one, but secret shopper is a fun way to make some extra cash. You try different restaurants and stores, review them, and make commission. It gives you something to do when you're bored and you make money for eating and shopping.
4. MindSumo.com
MIndSumo.com is the latest internship website for college students. You answer questions for big companies like Panera, Verizon, Pizza Hut, and other companies, and in return, you can receive $50-$150 for your answer if it's selected. The website also contains puzzles to get your brain juices flowing, interviewing tips, and internship opportunities. This past month, UGA students made $3, 910.00. You earn $25 just for making an account, and you can use promo code: GODAWGS18 for a $5 bonus when you sign up.
5. Fill out scholarship applications.
Most students push scholarships to the back of their minds after their freshman year (I know I did), but there are thousands upon thousands of dollars waiting to be claimed in scholarships funds. Sitting down once a day or even once a week could bring you one step closer to paying off your college debt.
