Do you ever feel that crippling sense of being overburdened, overworked, and not being able to handle anything?
If yes, then you are stressed to the max and need something to help you deal with it.
This won't be your typical "do yoga or go for a run", no. These ideas are a more alternative way to combat the pressure of stress and life, and can be used any time, any where.
1. Create a List
(See what I did there? I created a list and started by saying to create a list? Funny, I know.) A list is the most simple yet achievable thing you can do when you feel like you have a lot to do but don't know where to start. You can even categorize what you would like to accomplish, for example, housework. Make a list for each room of what you need to do, and it all seems easier once you notice your checking off the items on your list, and each room seems to be getting done even faster.
2. Shower
Weird, right? Think of it this way: what's more relaxing than a nice hot soak? Why do people love to take baths or get into pools and hot tubs? Water makes you feel clean, your favorite soaps and bath bombs are essential to relaxing you (and make you smell so good!). I recommend a shower though, because of the rinsing feeling. Let the water spray hit your head and massage your scalp for a few. Take your time just standing there, because you can't really worry about what needs to be done when your butt-naked in the shower, right?
3. Go Some Place New
You may have read my previous article, https://www.theodysseyonline.com/route-travelA New Route To Travel, and read about how it's OK to take a new road or try out a new place. This works well when you're stuck in your rut of daily life. If you're a get up, go to work, come home, go to bed kind of person, try out something new. Look up a nearby club that sounds interesting and at least go to one meeting. Do you get coffee every morning? Stop by the local shop instead of the one you normally frequent (if not, try a new drink on the menu). You'll begin to feel more in control because you're making simple, yet new choices.
4. Make a Scene
It's time to stop worry about what other people think, because that right there is too much stress to put onto yourself. You need to laugh out loud, and not hide your smile. Greet people by name, and compliment on something about them. Don't be afraid to be silly and weird, even in public! It's fun to let loose, and yeah, some people will get annoyed and try to quiet you, but still try to have fun (once they walk away). This hold especially true when you get with your friends, because having people you can be around and enjoy life with helps with stress even more.
5. Get in Touch
(Shout out to my aunt for this one!) Alright, so this one might be pretty similar to most advice you hear, but it works. Talk to a friend, parent, coworker, or significant other. You don't have to deal with your stress alone. You'll probably even receive some more useful tips from the people that you talk to. When you do go to talk, don't feel like you are burdening them with your problems, just be straight up that you need to vent and I'm sure you'll get a positive response from someone who wants to help you.
Stress is such a relevant topic, and having fun and new ways to work around it makes life a bit easier to live.
Have any more weird or useful ways to deal with stress? Let me know!
