5 Ways To Become More Confident
  1. Tell yourself each day when you wake up in the morning that you are important!
  2. Look at yourself in the mirror and like what you see
  3. Take Risks!
  4. Do things that make you happy
  5. Show superiority over those who have made you feel small

We all have so much going on in our lives! So many due dates and regulations to follow it is easy to get caught up in negative comments that others spill out. Remember the most important opinion of yourself is your own! It is easy to forget the importance of the many contributions that we make each day. Telling yourself that you are important will help you succeed beyond the norm.

Everyone has an off day; we can’t all look perfect every day it's impossible. Sometimes we wake up in the morning and look in the mirror and just can't stand the way we look, we are having a bad hair day or can't get rid of the lumps under our eyes. Whatever the case, it is important to recognize that we each have something beautiful inside us. While you are looking in the mirror it is important to remind yourself that what you see is only a shell which holds your true self. I challenge you to not only looks at the physical qualities but to look at the deeper and more emotional characteristics that make you lovely.

To some of you this may sound kind of silly. You are probably thinking how can taking a risk increase my self-esteem? It's actually very simple. Every risk we take is a new exciting and sometimes scary and intimidating experience. When you take a risk you prove to yourself that you can accomplish something extraordinary. Even if it is a simple risk, like talking to the boy you have a crush on or starting a new group it can change your opinion of yourself.

This sounds so cliché but believe it or not many of us forget to do this simple task. Many insecure people rely on the opinions of others to define them because they do not believe in the validity of their own decisions. This means that many people who are insecure settle for things that make other people happy and forget about the things that give them joy. Sometimes this means saying no to things you are not fond of and leaving others who disagree with your independence. This can sometimes be lonely but it is always worth it in the end! Doing things that make you happy lead you to meeting others with similar interests.

Each one of us at least one time in our lives has been told by someone that they weren’t important, weren’t good enough, didn’t fit in etc… But the thing the people who said those nasty comments do not own you. People who lack confidence tend to internalize the negative comments others make about them. Just because someone says something does not mean that it is true. If someone says something that you don’t like/don’t agree with it would be effective to tell this person that they are wrong. Confident people make decisions that are good for them and leave people who bring them down. This is a skill that will come with time, but it is a definite necessity for survival.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
