5 Tips On Traveling
Graziadio

I love traveling. There are so many interesting places in the world, and they all demand to be seen and experienced. As human beings, we crave new things because we are born with curiosity, and this curiosity is cured only by travel and adventure. Some might feel called to explore a new land or country. Some might feel called to explore just a different part of the city they grew up in. Even if you're on the other side of the world or on the other side of town, you must explore. Explorers in the past never questioned if they should travel, they just started searching.

Fortunately, I've been able to go on a couple adventures of my own. I've gotten the chance to see the tall skyscrapers of New York City loom like giants over me. I've been able to witness how the sun dips down over the Golden Gate Bridge as I stand with sand between my toes at Crissy Field. I've been able to feel the blazing Florida temperature run with Olympic speed right up to me as I take one little step outside. These adventures have taught me so much, allowing me to gather some tips on traveling.

1. Travel with friends.

Sometimes traveling can be a little lonely, especially if you're traveling to far away places where you know nobody. So, bring some friends and explore together.

Everyone wishes they could travel with these sisters and wear those dang pants, am I right?

2. Bring a camera.

I don't care if you're bad at taking pictures. You need a camera. Your future self will be glad you have one, because in 10 years your memories will get fuzzy. Pictures can help you remember where you went, who you went with and how much fun you had.

You could even vlog your adventures, like Mr Ben Brown. To all of my audience (i.e. my grandparents): vlogging is when you make films of your adventures, not just when you write about them in a blog.

3. Look up the places you want to go before you leave for the trip.

For instance, if you want to go to San Francisco you'll definitely want to check out the Golden Gate Bridge and the Painted Ladies. It doesn't matter where you go though, just make sure you have a plan. This will help you plan a budget for your trip, too. You'll know how much money things will cost if you plan ahead!

4. Another thing to look up before you go is the weather!

Don't be that person who doesn't pack the right attire.

5. Bring a journal.

This is similar to point number two, but it's a little more personal. You can explain how your day of traveling was life-changing. You can describe how certain moments made you feel. Journaling is crucial when you're traveling!

Keep these tips in mind as you travel and explore!

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
