There is nothing more daunting than a horrible case of Writer's Block. I'm sure you are asking yourself how it's possible when all you want to do is write. It happens to the best of us, staring at a blank word document wondering what on earth you are going to do to get the juices flowing.
1. Keep writing!
I know this may seem like a no-brainer but keeping the thoughts flowing can be beneficial for keeping the Writer's block at bay. I did a series of object writings. Pick a word, just one word and write whatever comes to mind about it. Even if the words you are writing don't seem to flow.
Read!
Inspiration can be found in your favorite author's writing. I have come up with some interesting stuff while getting lost in the pages of a book. While reading, take notes on things that you find intriguing so you can dissect it later.
Keep Notes!
Do you ever think of a good idea and then forget it? Happens to me all the time. I downloaded a note taking app on my phone so I have the means to write down the ideas before they disappear. The only part about this that sucks is my phone isn't waterproof. Most of my great ideas come to me in the shower.
Walk Away!
Nothing is worse than getting stuck in a scene you are writing because you can't figure out where it goes next, or maybe you know where you want it to end but have no idea what happens between the point you are at and the end. When you spend too much time mulling over what your writing it's time to take a break. Let it breathe, and come back later.
Rewrite!
Maybe the part that is causing the Writer's Block is something that you wrote previously. Did it not flow right? Not worded correctly? Sometimes the simple mistakes can be fixed by reworking an area of your writing that just doesn't fit in with the rest. It's possible that the scene needs to be looked at again. Tweaking the wording will help the rest of the writing flow smoothly.
These are a few tips that have helped me out of Writer's Block. Hopefully, they help you as well!
