Whether short or long, road trips always seem to make some of the best memories. They are usually even more memorable when driving with friends. Jamming to music, long and deep conversations, uncontrollable laughter, and of course, snacks, are all must haves for a stellar road trip with friends. But what happens when you're tackling a road trip by yourself? These can be either fun or very boring, it all depends on how you go about it. Here are five tips to having an awesome road trip by yourself.
1. All the snacks in the world.
I cannot stress how important it is to be properly prepared in the snacks department. This is your time to splurge and buy all the snacks you never do because now, no one can take any. Get that box of Double Stuff Oreos (or whatever your guilty pleasure snacks are), grab some tasty drinks, and get driving.
2. The right music is ESSENTIAL.
Just because you're driving alone doesn't mean you can't jam to your favorite bops! This is the perfect time for you to let your inner child out and sing along to some awesome tunes. Whatever your favorite type of music is, this is definitely one of the best ways to make time fly while driving. Check out this awesome playlist of some fun throwbacks to get you started!
3. Coffee, coffee, coffee.
Coffee is a huge part of my daily life, which isn't surprising considering I work at Starbucks. However, lots of coffee is a must have for me whenever I'm going on a road trip, especially by myself. Hit up your favorite coffee shop before you hit the road and get that caffeine! Try one of these awesome drinks from Starbucks too, while you're at it!
4. Know your limit.
While this phrase may be fun to ignore every once in a while when it comes to drinking, you should definitely take it seriously when it comes to driving on a road trip. If your trip is going to take a couple days, make sure that you take breaks, get some shut eye, and start up again when you're fully rested.
5. Find a podcast or audiobook
Sometimes you may need something a little more interesting and tantalizing to listen to than just music. This is where podcasts and audiobooks are your best friend. Throw one of those on, sit back, and enjoy the ride, both literally and figuratively. Audiobooks are great because you don't have to worry about actually reading, you just get to enjoy listening to someone tell you a story. Podcasts can do almost the same thing but are sometimes a lot more interesting. I would strongly suggest checking out this podcast and giving it a try, it'll definitely keep your attention.
