5 Tips for Improving Financial Wellness in Your Twenties

Balancing social life and finances can be quite challenging for young adults in their 20s. With pressure from insurance, loans, rent, and more, it’s no surprise that most young people will put off investing and saving money. Usually, this will be because they do not know how to manage their finances. Also, they might think they do not have enough time to structure a savings plan.

But it's time you make arrangements to improve your financial wellness. This is because the earlier you start making financial plans, the brighter your future will be. Besides, one of the worst things that could happen in your life is struggling after retirement. Check out these five tips that will allow you to improve your financial wellness in your twenties.

1.Establish a Budget and Stick to It

Developing a budget is one of the most important financial steps to take. Budgeting allows you to get your finances in order while regularly tracking the amount of money that comes in and out of your accounts. Depending on your needs, you can set an annual, daily, weekly, or monthly budget. The good news is that you do not have to struggle with creating a budget, as many online resources help you.

Also, create a realistic budget and stick to it. While it can be tempting to ignore some budget goals, it is crucial to revise them more often to ensure you do not spend more than you have. If you share expenses with someone, you must hold each other accountable for their financial obligations.

2. Avoid Short-Term Debts

Pay later options and easy monthly installment plans provide great financial convenience. However, this convenience usually gets too many young people into unnecessary debt. Even though your borrowing capacity in your 20s might be limited, it can still cause a financial burden, especially if you borrow to spend on luxury. Borrow only when it is necessary and have a proper payment plan.

3. Begin Investing

Are you waiting to get to 30 or start receiving huge salaries from investing? You are on the wrong track. Long-term investment should begin with the little that you have. This will help your money compound, thus further growth of your investment. Compounding is magical as it allows investors to generate significant wealth over time. Typically, compounding requires reinvestment of time and earnings. Also, do not be over-ambitious, as it could lead to frustration.

4. Establish a Good Credit Score

Creating an excellent credit score allows you to qualify for the best financial products, such as loans and credit cards. This can save you in the future, allowing you to invest even more. Remember, the higher your credit score, the more essential terms you will receive. This can save you vast amounts of money in the form of interest in the long run.

5. Create an Emergency Fund Plan

Since tomorrow is not known, you should set aside funds for emergencies. This helps you sort unexpected expenses that may arise, like car repairs and medical bills. Your emergency funds can help you avoid taking loans, thus saving you on interest charges.

Financial planning is very essential to every youth in their twenties. Follow the tips above and enjoy financial freedom even in your thirties.

Dear Los Angeles...With Love,

After packing two oversized suitcases and two carryons with all the boho chic clothes I thought I needed to travel across the country for my dream internship, I quickly realized that although I may look like I belong out in the entertainment capital of the world there was a lot more to it than Free People dresses and fanny packs.

Dear Los Angeles...With Love,
September: Los Angeles

Ever since I was younger I dreamed of moving out to California. There was something so amusing about being in the hub of it all that bursts with passion and artistry wherever you look. After a trip to LA when I was a sophomore in high school for dance, I fell even more in love with this utopia of a city and from that moment on, Los Angeles was that light at the end of the tunnel.
