Starting your senior year of college is an absolute roller coaster. You probably feel a mixture of excitement, relief, terror, anxiety, happiness, hysteria, sadness, apprehension, ecstasy and a million other emotions which just sort of leave you feeling nauseous. I feel you. I dedicate the following to my fellow seniors in college! 5 Thoughts All College Seniors Have:
1. Is it too late to change my major?
Despite dedicating your entire college career to one subject--or despite trying eighteen subjects and finally settling on one you do not despise--you still experience a moment of panic during your senior year when you do not know whether you have chosen the right major. Perhaps you should have been a Business major instead! They seem to be in high demand right now...
2. I'll never get a job.
More and more statistics come out every day about how millennials are struggling to find not only jobs in their preferred career field, but jobs in general. At this point, you would be happy to work for minimum wage if it means you will be employed in some way.
3. I'm not ready to #adult.
How do I pay bills? How do I work a full-time job and still manage to have the time and energy to do the laundry and have a social life? You used to think people in their 20s were adults, and now you just feel foolish. You probably wish you were 5 years old again and playing with your imaginary friends in your back yard.
4. I can't wait until I graduate!
Although you are absolutely terrified to be out in the 'real world,' there is also something so liberating about graduating from college. You are tired of all of the pointless drama. You are tired of people finding fulfillment in drinking and partying all the time. You are ready for something different--something more.
5. This it it!
There is no going back after graduating--unless you plan on going to grad school. But once you walk across that stage and hold your diploma, you are in the real world. You are expected to be a functioning and productive member of society. With that status comes a whole world of respect and pride you never could have imagined. Welcome to the rest of your life!
