5 Things I Would Have Done Differently When I Was In High School!
Austin Crank

As I prepare for my five-year high school class reunion I am reflecting back on my high school years. I would have definitely done them differently according to who I am today. High school is usually the best days of your life.. Well, mine wasn't because I feel like I didn't let it be. College has definitely been the best days of mine! Here are a few things that I would change if I had a chance to go back to high school:

1) I would be less shy..

I was very shy in high school. I never let myself be who I really wanted to be! Now, looking back on it, I wouldn't care what people think of me! I would just be myself and go on about my day!

2) I would open up more and have more self-confidence..

.. she is right! Stay true to yourself and don't be afraid, I have learned to be like this over the years. In high school, I always used to worry about what people thought of me and what I should act like in order to fit in.

3) I wouldn't be so dorky and weird..

.. looking back on my high school pictures, I could tell I tried to fit in too hard when I was with certain people. I wouldn't do that anymore, that's just not me!

4) I would have listened to my teachers more..

Thinking back on high school, our mentors and teachers truly cared about us and our well-being, even though we hated them sometimes! I feel like I would be much nicer and actually try to get to know them more this time if I went back. I actually miss some of them too!

5) I would do it much better this time and actually start with a fresh slate!

.. I would want everyone there, including mentors and teachers, that was there when I was in school of course! There are so many things I would have popped out of my shell and done if I was the me I am today!

..But thats life right? You only get one chance, learn from your mistakes, and make things better as you go! :)

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
