College has been a wonderful time for me. Although, it has been very stressful at times and I am so ready to be done. The past four years have seriously been one of the best parts of my life. So as I look forward to graduation in a few weeks, I think about all the things I will miss.
First, what I will miss the most is the people. I have met so many people in college that have become like family to me. When I graduated high school, most of the people I could not have cared less if I saw again or not, but in college people treat you much differently and you have much different mutual respect for people. I will genuinely miss people here.
Second, I will miss the spontaneity of college. There is always something going on at a college campus, and if there is not, most likely someone is going to make something up to do. There has been so many times that I have driven 30 minutes at 11 p.m. to get donuts or driven 45 minutes to eat somewhere. Although I love having a set schedule and am actually looking forward to having a bed time and time I wake up every day after I graduate, some of the best times I have had with people is during these spontaneous trips.
Third, I will miss the ever-changing class schedule. College is so refreshing coming from primary and secondary school, where you had teachers for a whole year for just one class. When I went to college, I really enjoyed changing my schedule up every few months. Even though in college you cover a lot more in a semester, it was nice to get classes out of the way instead of dragging them along for an entire nine-month period.
Fourth, I will miss the professors. I go to a relatively small university and there have been some terrible professors, but there have also been some of the most wonderful professors I could have ever asked for!
Fifth, I will miss the town. This is probably the last thing I thought I would say four years ago when I moved to middle of nowhere Missouri that has eight fast food restaurants, a Walmart and a few sit-down restaurants. But for the past four years, this little town in the middle of Missouri has been my home-away-from-home.
Although I am very ready to graduate and it is time to move on to bigger and better things, I look back at my last four years and see all the amazing things I have been able to be a part of. I am so thankful for all the opportunities I have had and all the people I have been able to make connections with. As I look forward to better things, I cannot help but look back and think about all these things I will miss, but also look forward to making even more memories as I move forward.
