5 Things To Remember When You Feel Like Giving Up

Five things to remember when you want to give up.

1. This feeling won't last forever.

I know right now it may feel as if your world is crashing down and nothing is going right, but things will get better. It may not be tomorrow, or even a month from now, but everything will work out in the end.

2. You have to keep going no matter how hard it is.

Right now, it may seem like the easiest option is to just give up, but that is not true whatsoever. You will never make any changes if you don’t at least try.

3. You are not alone.

There is nothing wrong with asking for help. Whether it is from a professional or just a best friend, sometimes you need to open up to someone and get things off your chest. Just remember getting someone to help you through hard times doesn’t make you weak. In reality it takes a strong person to be able to open up to someone about what is going wrong in your life.

4. You are in control of your life.

The only person who can control your life is YOU. You cannot continue to let negative people and thoughts have control of your life. Push all the negative things out of your life. You hold the key to your own happiness so take the reigns and make it happen. Life is too short to waste on anything that doesn’t make you happy. Focus on you and let the pieces of your life fall into place.

5. The best is yet to come.

Always remember you miss 100 percent of the shots you don’t take. Great things don’t come easy. You must work every day to achieve goals to create a better life for yourself. The last thing to remember is your life isn’t over, sometimes the end of one thing is just the start of something new. Never give up, life may not be going the way you want it to at this moment, but this is only a phase of your life, it isn’t forever. Be strong and hold on, because you WILL make it through this.

Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
