Going back to school after Thanksgiving Break is rough. It's hard enough that you're still full from Thanksgiving dinner or tired from a long Black Friday shift, but now you have to think about school again. A break was nice and needed, but it's time to get back in gear and finish the semester off strong.
1.) Ease yourself in
It's difficult going from doing very little to having everything on your plate again. Ease back in by taking one thing at a time and dip your toe in before going all the way in. Be easy on yourself, you've been gone for a little while so going back in full force right away might do more harm than good. Take everything a step at a time and before you know it you'll be adjusted, just in time to finish out the semester strong.
2.) Use the relaxation as motive to focus
Though you should ease yourself back in, don't take it too easy. You are in the prime of the end of the semester, so stuff needs to be done. Channel all the relaxation you had to rejuvenate yourself and focus on what you need to do. In addition, use the relaxation you'll have in just a couple weeks for winter break motivate you.
3.) Make a to-do list
To steal my roommate's advice, making a to-do list will help you ease back into it because you'll know what you have to do and when it's due. This will keep you organized and up-to-date with what you have to do for the week back. It is easily the best thing to do for yourself because you'll be on top of everything and be able to be proud of yourself when you start crossing things off that you've done.
4.) Breathe
Remember you come first and to breathe. Taking breaks and taking time for yourself is so important. Know that your mental health comes first and it is okay to set aside time to watch Netflix or write for an hour. This goes for the whole school year honestly, but most certainly now as you're coming back off a break and only have two more weeks to go. It's crunch time, but it's not worth you overwhelming yourself. It's going to be okay and you will get through the end of the semester.
5.) Remember you're almost there
You are almost at the end of the semester, you just have to hang in there. Don't let being overwhelmed get in the way of achieving your goal. You are stronger than you know and will end the semester on top. Remember you're almost done with the semester and it'll be a great motivation to finish strong.
