Spring break is coming. Some people are going to Mexico. Some people are going to Europe. And some people are going home. Unfortunately, you will be saying bye to your friends, while they pack their bags and board their international flights, while you wait outside your dorm for your parents to pick you up. To those poor students not spending spring break in a tropical location under the sun with their friends, here are some tips for you to make it through the long week at your parents home.
1. Get out of your room.

2. Visit your friends.
3. Do some light reading
Yeah I said it. Read, but not for school. Pick up a magazine, read some online articles and pick up a short book. Reading for pleasure is completely different than reading for school. Expand your academic horizons and open your mind to some knowledge this spring break.
4. Eat some good food.
Dining hall food is gross. The food you get at home is going to be 1000 times better than what you could make for yourself. Yeah we can pretend that we know how to cook but the three meals you can make for yourself in between classes are nothing compared the food your family will make for you. Take some back with you frozen in Tupperware. Trust me. You will thank me.
5. Spend time with your parents.
Not everyone is close to their parents. Trust me I know. But that does not mean you cannot hang out with them for a day or two during your week off. Go out on some errands and they will probably drop you some good life knowledge and advice. They were once college students too. You will probably get a free meal out of it and no one is complaining about that.
So pack your bags and prepare yourself for your own unique spring break experience. Maybe it will not be Instagram worthy and maybe you will not get a tan. But it will be relaxing and it will be what you deserve after your midterm week from Hell.
