Every year, spring break comes around after midterms, just in time to save the day. Going home for a week after half of a semester at college can stir up quite a few emotions. For some, break is a time to sit back and relax, and maybe watch some Netflix, after a long period of hard work, for others it can be stressful, to transition back into another living environment. When students arrive back at college, and are bombarded with questions about their break, these are among the most common discussion topics.

1. Relief

Let's face it, most of us are barely surviving this semester. Spring break means that midterms have finally come to an end, and that for one week, we can catch up on all the work we've missed. Not having to wake up for classes and meet deadlines feels incredible.

2. Excited

Maybe you're going on a vacation with the school, or are just excited for the chance to see all of your friends from home. Food that doesn't taste like plastic, and our bed at home are Either way, we're enthralled to be home for a week.

3. Anticipation

There's still a week left until we get to go home, and it couldn't go by slower. Every day that we still have to write essays and study drags on, slower than ever. We just can't wait for our last class and the trip home.

4. Nervous

Not everyone is excited to go home and live with other people. For some it's hard to get along with their parents or follow the lifestyle that is expected of them. Leaving our comfort zone, even if it's only for one week, can be difficult.

5. Hungry

Mom's cooking really is the best. Terrible cafeteria food only makes us love home cooking more. You can finally visit that local cafe or restaurant that you've been missing while at school.

6. Love

Whether it's your dad or your dog, there is someone at home who always makes you happy and reminds you that you are loved. After all, home is where the heart is.

7. Sleepy

If you're not working 24/7 over break, it's finally time to catch up on sleep. Nothing sounds better than laying in bed and sleeping till noon, after mornings where we have to get up for 8 a.m.

8. Nostalgia

Going home reminds us of childhood, and memories growing up. Our first home can evoke a dense cloud of nostalgia. A multitude of feelings can arise from this, happiness, longing, melancholy. Seeing our old friends, and knowing that we have to leave them again, is often the hardest.

9. Wanderlust

Spring break is also about travel. Some college students plan detailed vacations, or visit new places. This can be one of the more eye opening experiences in college. When we leave one country, it just strengthens our desire to see more of the world.

10. "I'm going to be so productive!"

It's easy to ambitious about our time off, we promise ourselves that we'll finish certain tasks, or see all of the people that we miss. We don't bother scheduling though, the laundry list of not school related activities are enticing enough.

11. But actually.... "Netflix and Food."

The lack of classes, work, and extracurriculars creates so much free time. Despite our plans, we don't even want to do anything with it, just enjoy ourselves.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
