Joining a sorority is a giant step in many people's lives, and every experience is different. However, there are things that ring true no matter which sorority you join. I think that you will find, much as I did, that most of these things are related to sororities, but the most important may be in the day to day, little things that keep you happy and humble.
1. Getting your bid card is one of the most important moments of your life.
To put it simply, bid day is stressful. Between the nerves of hoping you got invited to your top choice, to the anticipation as you hold the envelope in your hands, to trying not to fall as you run home, it is a busy, anxiety filled day. But, all of your worries will fly out the window when you read your bid. Bid day is when you find your home, it is when you join a group of girls who are perfect for you and will support and love you in every endeavor.
2. Late night Walmart trips can be some of the highlights of your college years.
It may sound cheesy, but, it is the little things that count when you are with sisters. Things like late night trips to Walmart for chips and ice cream can lead to inside jokes and memories you will cherish forever. Everything becomes an adventure when you are with sisters and you would never give those moments up.
3. Your sisters are your family.
It seems obvious given the title, "sisters," a lot goes into one small word. In a sorority, you are surrounded by a group of girls who will love and support you through thick and thin. You form relationships that are closer than those you have with anyone else and will always know you have someone in your corner. There is nothing that can describe what sisterhood is except love.
4. You live for philanthropy events.
5. Your sorority is you.
No matter where you end up, your sisters are forever. You will always be an ADPi or Phi Mu or Chi O. Your sorority is in your heart and soul. You will always have a special place in your heart for sisters young or old, new faces or long time friends.
