Growing up we've all had things that we dreamed of doing and things we were ready to do. "I can't wait to grow up" was our favorite thing to say. As we got older we start to realize what we are doing and often think we really never thought it would happen. Here are 5 things I still find hard to believe!
How old I am!
“I can’t wait to turn…” is another famous saying we would always say. Now almost being 20 really shocks me! I don’t think I’m 20 and can’t believe I’m going to be, like am I old or young? May say “oh you’re so young!” but I feel so old!! When I go home and run into kids that I’ve known since they were baby’s and how much they have grown, oh my, makes me feel so old!
Living away from my parents…
I never thought leaving home would be so hard to do! Counting down the day’s till move in day gave me so many mixed emotions. There were times where I wanted to unpack everything and just not go and then there were times where I couldn’t wait to move! When move in day came I can honestly say I had no feelings. That night was probably the hardest night ever and the worst. I’ve gone on trips and stayed away from home for a couple of days but I always knew I was going to go home at a certain time. Yes, I go home some weekends but it’s not the same.
Having my own car
I am proud to say that I bought my own car with very little help from my parents, but I still can’t believe that I’m driving myself everywhere. I’ve been so used to going everywhere with my mom or telling my mom that I’m borrowing the car.
Making my own decisions
I now how the freedom to do and say what I want to. I don’t have to ask for permission. I don’t have homework to turn in, it's just recommended you do it, I don’t have to raise my hand to get and leave the room not do I have to go to class it’s my decision. There are many things now that are my decision to make
Being in college
Growing up most all of us saw one going to college and living that college life. We couldn’t wait to go to college and be on our own, make our own decisions, own our own things. There are days where I still can’t believe I was in college. When people ask, “What are you now?” it was very weird to say “A college freshman”!
Those are 5 things I still can’t believe I am doing. I think about it all day and say, “feels like yesterday I was only 6”! Crazy how time flies and I just advise all the young ones to live every moment and don’t rush to grow up.
