We all have those days, the ones where we want to crawl into bed and not come out for days. As college students, we tend to procrastinate on papers, projects, and everything else that comes with this stage in life. We push away our problems until they get bigger and bigger. We're expected to get the best grades we can, be involved in campus, work, and intern.
Not to mention socialize and exercise. We're one of the n most stressed out age groups that exist .Some days, or the ones that in Y, will have us overloaded with appointments, classes, and social events to the point where we burn out. However, there are certain things that you can tell yourself even on your worst Monday that may motivate you enough to push through that 8 page paper.
1. How many bad days have you survived so far?
Every single one. So you can push through yet another, and come out stronger. Remember the time you failed that paper freshman year and thought you would fail the class? You received an A. Think of your bad days as moments that you'll laugh at in 3 years. You'll want these moments back when you have to deal with even bigger issues (think student loans and mortgage). At least you aren't paying either of those yet.
2. Everyone else around you may seem calm&collected, but believe me they are not.
They all have the same issues and stress that you do, if they don't then they clearly arent doing college right! Stress is natural if you're putting in the work that college actually requires.
3. Think about the rewards of the hard work and long days you are putting all of your effort into.
Spending 3 hours on that paper will result in the A you’re working so hard for! Even that awful time at your internship working with that child who just won’t listen to you. Someone you’ll see this as a valuable lesson when you enter the actual workforce.
4. Take a step back and appreciate your life.
Realize that some people would kill to be in college, following their dreams like you get to everyday. Further education is a priviledge that we're all fortunate enough to have. Go drink a Pumpkin Spiced Latte from Starbucks, and keep moving forward to that dreaded psych class.
5. People love you.
Reach out to family, your best friend, or even your little sibling if everything is getting to be too much. Don't get so caught up in your college bubble that you forget about yourt life at home. Ya know, the place where you were born and also where the ones that birthed you reside.
