It might seem weird to say that my parents are two of my best friends. It’s true, and here’s some of the things you know when one or both of your parents are your best friends. When your parents are your best friends, they will always be there for you when you need them. To make you laugh, to help you cry, and to share in your life.
You tell them everything
You know they won’t judge you and they will give you the support you need whether you are celebrating together or crying together.
You call/FaceTime them once a day
You want to tell them all about your life. You tell them how your classes, relationships, and well-being are going. You just want them to continue to be a part of your everyday life.
You strive to make them proud
They will always be proud of you when you try your best, but you want to do something worthy of their praise
You use them as role models
They seem to be able to do it all - they're amazing parents, have amazing jobs, and are amazing people. They set a great example for you, they show you that they aren’t perfect but are able to make it work, and that’s all you can strive for.
You listen to their advice
They give great advice, and don’t force it on you. They give you enough information so you can solve the problem for yourself, but they point you in the right direction.
