If you know someone that is a last semester senior and you ask them these questions they will probably cringe on the inside. You and everyone else are asking the same thing making them repeat themselves and go into autopilot mode. So please, for the sake of sanity, don't do it. They will secretly be thanking you and the man upstairs.
1. Do you have any plans yet?
This is the most exhausting one. Do you want me to type out my plan with graphs and charts and present it to you? Maybe even get it binded? Did you know exactly what you were doing when you graduated college? Probably not, and neither do I.
2. Are you sad?
Yes. Yes I am very sad. You would be too if you made a life somewhere and all of the sudden you have to pack up and leave. Although I’ll get over it pretty quickly, I know that I’m not only leaving behind people I love, I’m also leaving a part of myself and the person that I was there.
3. Are you going to cut back on your alcohol intake?
Uh DUH. No person can function properly in the real world if they are getting drunk six days a week. That’s grounds for dismissal right away. I’m not that irresponsible like I was when I was a freshman. Plus, don’t you remember what you did in college? I’m sure there are some unspeakable stories where alcohol comes into the mix. You grew up and so have I.
4. I can’t believe you actually graduated in four years. How did you do it?
Well, I went to class, did my homework, studied a little bit (a lot when I really needed the grade) and made sure I took the right classes, you know, like you’re supposed to. And my key was to take a weekend off for my mental health here and there. Sure I had a few hiccups, but I just worked harder to make up for those. If I can do it, anyone can.
5. Do you have any advice?
Yeah, I have a lot of advice to give. College made me a horrible person at one point and I’m happy to have grown and moved on from it. But I wouldn’t be who I am today if I didn’t have the learning experiences that I did. As far as giving advice, just do what you want. In the end you’re going to anyway, so have fun.
