5 Things I'd Say To My Grandma If I Could Talk To Her One Last Time

1. I hope I've made you proud.

There have been a lot of bumps in the road. It hasn’t always been easy to be proud of me, I’ve gone through many tough times but I know you never left my side. I hope you have seen the changes I’ve made in my life and I hope you’re proud of the person I’ve become and will become in the future.

2. Thank you for looking after me and keeping me safe

I don’t even know how I’m alive, so many times I shouldn't have made it. Thank you for constantly reminding me that you are still here, if only in spirit! Even when I wish you could hold me during the hard times, I know I’m never alone. You’re always watching over me and I can’t thank you enough, you’re my guardian angel.

3. I wish you were here.

You have another great grandchild on the way and I wish you were here to meet them, to see me grow up and to help me figure out how to be a good mom. There’s so much I wish you were here to see and it’s hard to know I’m never going to see you again.

4. I miss you and I love you.

Your smile was contagious, you made everyone feel loved, I will miss you everyday until I see you again. We all miss you, you left your mark in all our hearts. You always lit up the room and you left a lasting affect on everyone you met and I hope to be half the mother, sister, and daughter that you were.

5. Lastly, I'll save you a seat.

Nothing hurts more than thinking about the day the baby is born and knowing you won't be able to hold your great grandchild, you will never walk through those hospital doors... It tears me apart to know you won't be at my wedding falling in love with the way my future-husband looks at me, you'd love him grandma, he treats me just how you'd want him to. I know you'll be there in spirit and in my heart but I'll save you a seat right in front where you should have been.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
