Whether you’re single or dating someone, this February Valentine’s Day can be a great way to show your appreciation for your friends. Leslie Knope invented a holiday called Galentine’s Day to have a day of love for friends. In "Parks and Recreation," this is celebrated on Valentine's Day, but it can be done the day after, too! Here are a few fun ways to celebrate with your BFF’s this Valentine's Day.
The original Galentine’s Day style brunch.
For anyone who doesn’t watch "Parks and Recreation" (you should BTW), this is the OG Galentine's Day idea. Leslie invites all her gal pals to brunch, gives them gifts, and tells them why they are so amazing. Go out for some great breakfast foo,d or stay in and cook it yourselves. After all, who doesn’t love waffles?
Go see a movie.
Every year ,there’s always something great and cheesy in theaters to go see with your girlfriends on Valentine's Day. Last year it was the hilariously awful "50 Shades of Grey," and this year it looks like "How to be Single" would be a good choice. I think it’s safe to assume no guy would want to go see these so celebrate the fact that that doesn’t matter and go with the girls.
Decorate!
Not sure about you, but pink is my favorite color. Every year I buy streamers or a heart-shaped rug or something to put out so I feel super festive. Get your roomies or friends together, and get in the spirit of love by covering everything is festive colors.
Eat chocolate.
Valentine's Day chocolate is so adorable. Even better than that, though, is that once February 15, hits it is super on sale. Pink M&M’s taste the same as regular ones, but will be way discounted the next day. Have a belated Valentine’s Day date with your friends, and take a trip to the store to get some discounted treats.
Just stay in.
Valentine’s/Galentine's Day doesn’t have to be a big ordeal if you don’t want it to be. Stay in with your friends in sweatpants, order some takeout, and watch "The Bachelor." Sounds like a pretty great night to me.
All this stuff is fun and way less stressful (not to mention less expensive) than typical Valentine’s Day activities and are a great way to show your friends how much you care. Boys may come and go, but your BFF’s will always be there for you. Also, don’t forget to call your parents and tell them you love, them too! February 14 is a day to show your love for everyone, and they probably miss you.
