Although Cedar Falls only has a population of around 40,000, there is so much to do that most people don't know about! During the holiday season, bring your friends, family, or significant other to do something they won't forget. Here are some festive ideas to inspire you.
1. Check out Main Street.
Cedar Falls has, in my opinion, one of the best downtowns in Iowa. Whether you go to shop, eat, or attend an event, the possibilities are endless. On December 1st, Jingle and Mingle on Main will be going on from 5-8 pm and will feature trolley rides, Christmas trees, carolers, Santa, and refreshments! The following Saturday, December 3rd, will be Breakfast at the North Pole from 8 - 11 am. Other events on Main Street include an ugly sweater contest, Santa's Beard Contest, and Baby, It's Cold Outside, featuring ice sculptors! You won't want to miss out.
2. See a holiday play.
Visit the Gallagher-Bluedorn Performing Arts Center to see shows like the Varsity Men's Glee Club Christmas Variety Show, A New Nutcracker, and Jim McDonough and His Orchestra & Singers: Holiday Grande 2016. It's sure to be fun for all ages. There is also a holiday concert at the Hearst Center for the Arts, the Lampost Theatre, and the UNI School of Music Choir Holiday Concert.
3. Meet Santa.
On December 9th and 10th, Santa will be at Hick's Place to take photos at the Winter Wonderland. He'll also be at Scheel's on December 13th! Perfect for the little ones.
4. Look at Christmas Lights.
Local light displays usually aren't too hard to find! Drive around with some hot chocolate and take in the Christmas spirit.
5. Spend time with the ones you love
Gift-giving and activities aside, don't forget to enjoy time with your family and friends. Watch Christmas movies, eat cookies, and be merry.
Happy Holidays, everyone!
