Trends come and go, and as hard as you might try, it is hard to stay away from them.
As years go on, new trends start to develop, and some trends from past decades come back. Being a 20-something girl in this generation, one might call me "basic."
Being "basic" means that I give into these popular trends, the trends that everyone has which means they lack originality. I think that is perfectly fine. If I think something is cute or attractive, I will wear it. I could care less if that makes me "basic."
I am on year four of being in college, and spending the majority of my Monday-Friday running around campus, I have seen some styles that ever girl has.
When you spend so much time in one place, with the same people, it is inevitable that we won't start to develop similar styles. So without further ado, here are five styles that I swear, every 20-something girl has (at least at WSU):
1. The "It's too hot and I'm too tired to even care" look.
This is one of the outfits I see most often. You can usually find this during August-October, and then again March-May.
This is usually paired with a ponytail or a top knot, along with sunglasses because you usually don't put makeup on with this look.
This is one of my personal favorites because it takes minimal effort.
2. The "I can't even with this 8-degree weather, but I still want to look cute" look.
During the months of November to February, you can see this look on one of every ten girls on campus.
It is cute and comfortable, yet very effective. If you don't wear a parka out on campus during these months, you don't love yourself because it is freakin' cold out there.
A crew neck/sweatshirt can also be added to this outfit if you want some extra layers. You can also switch out the running shoes for snow boots if need be.
3. The "it's day drinking time" look.
This is definitely an August and April look. Once the sun comes out, so do the crop tops and high waisted shorts. Usually paired with sunglasses as well.
You can also add a plaid shirt to tie around your waist if you want that extra something, because who actually wears plaid shirts, right?
4. The "time to go to the bar" look.
This is the outfit you wear out during October-February.
During these months, it is too cold to wear shorts or rompers unless you like living dangerously. So a long sleeve with jeans and booties is the perfect look.a
Chokers are very in, so most every outfit like this is paired with one. Another one of my personal favorites.
5. The "someone better notice me" look.
This is definitely an outfit you wear if you want to feel good about yourself.
You cannot help but radiate confidence in this outfit. There is no outfit that cannot be made by a pair of thigh high boots.
Every girl should own a pair.
Of course, there are more styles besides these five, and maybe you don't even have one of them.
However, from my observations, these are the five styles I see almost daily.
I am proud to be basic when it comes to cute trends, and so should you!
