Your life has always been marked by comments about your height. Adults always discussed how much you have grown and peers always asked if you played basketball. But, the constant discussion of your height is only one of the many struggles of being tall.
1. You hardly ever wear heels.
Your closet may be lined with heels in every color but you wear them sparingly. Sure, it gives you leverage to see everything in crowds; but it also makes you feel abnormally large. You are tall enough without the additional support. Heels just seem excessive. At least you don’t have to worry about tripping in your heels. Plus, flats are much more comfortable anyway.
2. Your skirts are always too short.
No matter how hard you try, your skirts will never be the right length. What is considered cute and flirty for some girls is borderline scandalous on you. Half of your skirts and dresses are not appropriate for any type of professional setting. Some dresses are even diverted to the shirt pile. Although you search and search for skirts of an appropriate length, you are subjected to a life of tugging on your hemline.
3. You are constantly crouching in photos.
Taking pictures with friends is a dreaded task. Sure, you want nice pictures to remember your day; but, nothing is worse than sticking out like a sore thumb. In some cases, you have mastered the casual crouch with popped hip or a bent knee to lower yourself a few inches. However, sometimes you have to complete a “sorority squat” simply to fit in the same frame as your friends.
4. You pick your dates based on height.
While there is nothing wrong with dating someone shorter than you, you unknowingly are drawn to people who are taller than you. Unfortunately, those people are few and far between. Scanning a crowd, you instantly look for anyone who vaguely resembles your height. It is always a shame having to rule out a cute boy simply because you are a head taller than him.
5. Your pants never fit correctly.
There is always something wrong with your pants. While others are lamenting about their pants dragging in the dirt, your ankles are freezing. But, it’s not only the length that is the issue. The inseam and waist size never match and you are forced with the dilemma of either having your pants falling down or your hem too short.
Despite any struggles that result from your height, you should never be embarrassed about it. You are perfect whether you are a pocket-sized beauty or an Amazonian goddess. Your worth is not measured in inches, or lack there of them. Although there may be some setbacks, being tall is beautiful.
