Those with kids cringe at the idea of bringing their little one in a grocery store. Well I am here to help with these five easy steps.
STEP 1.
Bathroom Break Before... (3B's)
If your kid is not potty trained, make sure you change them so they feel fresh and clean, and if your kid is then make sure they go potty before you leave the house. This will insure less whining on their part and less hair loss from yours. Make sure they are presentable as well. Plus your home bathroom is much cleaner then public ones. Trust me.
STEP 2.
Always bring a snack.
They want to hold something. They love all of the colors in the store and want to grab at everything. Give them a snack to munch on as they watch all of the people and all of the boxes of food.
STEP 3.
Let your child help.
All they wanna do is show Mommy and Daddy that they can shop too. Bring your cart next to the product and help them pick it up and put it in the cart. It does take a little more time to shop but it won't be stressful and it will ensure happiness in your kids.
STEP 4.
Rushed Shopping is a NO NO.
Never attempt to go shopping with your kid when your short for time. They feel that you are stressed out which stresses them out which then stresses you out even more and then what have you accomplished. Also if you stress shop you have a bigger chance of missing great money saving deals that you might have noticed if you were not rushing around.
STEP 5.
Communicating with your child
Nothing is worse then when you ignore your kid. If they have a question in the store answer it. They are curious and you are their source. You are their Google. Their Bing and Yahoo, which ties into never shop rushed. If your kid doesn't talk much yet, just talk to them. They will be fascinated to just watch you interact with them. Make funny faces, make them laugh. Shopping should be a fun experience with your kids...not a dreaded one.
