We all know what time of the year it is. We see the big signs in every store, shoving it down our throats. The email with our new dorm information is sitting in our inbox. Your bags and totes are packed (maybe) ready to be brought back home. Yes, the school year is finally upon us. So let's reflect back on the time spent this summer and the 6 stages you've gone through while waiting or avoiding the inevitability of the return of school.
1. Reminiscing on the past.
It wasn't even a week and you were already looking through all the snapchats from the crazy times you and your friends had. You most likely still hadn't unpacked from school, and now you had to readjust to the real world. Man, August couldn't come soon enough, and it's sad to think about how empty your summer must be without school, right? You had that thought for those first two weeks, but the freedom caught up to you.
2. Adventuring into the world around you.
Back home, it's time to get started on that summer bucket list. Whether it's concert or music festivals, carnivals, camping trips, or beach vacations, you had plans to make this summer great. You may have met up with friends from school for this, or hung out with friends back home. You may have even spent time with your family, because let's be honest, you missed that craziness.
3. The mid-summer lull of excitement.
So far, summer's has been a blast. And then it starts being way too hot and miserable to do anything. This makes everyone else around you miserable and all you wanted was to go back to school. Your friends were getting a bit annoying, your family pissed you off too many times to count, and your town felt too small again. Don't worry! This isn't the end! There's at least a month left of summer at this point, if not more!
4. The fear of school kicks in.
After you got over the lull, summer started to kick up. Of course, it quickly turned into August. Now, you can count down the days until you were back on campus, and that thought terrified you. You didn't want to go back to actual responsibility, you just wanted to stay and play all day, doing nothing but what you wanted to do. Not deal with 9am bio labs and campus food that sucks.
5. Anticipation takes over.
With only two weeks left, you may have had some plans left to do. But, not only are the days counting down at this point, you were counting them down too. Finally, your big duffle bag comes out of the closet, with your XL twin sheets and mini fridge. It's time to go back to your second home, and you wouldn't want it any other way.
