Ah, mid-October is approaching, and as the nights grow longer and the days grow colder, cuffing season begins to take over the lives of all college students. Unfortunately, not all of us have the privilege of being cuffed this fall and winter season, so for the desperate and bae-less, here are a few songs that will warm you up even better than a blanket would.
1. Billie Marten, “Milk And Honey”
Your next favorite teenager! Billie Marten may be so young, but she’ll remind you of an old soul. Her ethereal folk-pop style suits those who feel empty inside (read: me). “Milk and Honey” will make you warm and fuzzy on the inside.
Think: dried rose petals, sweater dresses, and raindrops falling on windows.
2. Coldplay, “Magic”
Even as one of Coldplay’s more popular songs, “Magic” is so underrated compared to “Viva La Vida,” “Paradise,” and “Hymn for the Weekend” (which are still good). Honestly, Chris Martin & Co. never seem to disappoint.
Think: long car rides, glow-in-the-dark stars, and angel wings.
3. Oh Wonder, “Technicolor Beat”
Tender and beautiful, “Technicolor Beat” won’t necessarily make you long for a bae, but it’s the perfect blend of calm and catchy to make you bop your head while hiding from the rain and snow outside.
Think: neon lights, crystal prisms, and red hair.
4. Yuna, “Hold On, We’re Going Home”
In case you didn’t know already, I love Drake -- the guy never skips a beat when it comes to creating great music. I’ve heard so many covers of “Hold On, We’re Going Home,” and I would say that this is the only one that truly does this song justice. Plus, Yuna!
Think: sunflowers, tabby cats, and piping hot tea.
5. Ed Sheeran, “Bloodstream”
Ed Sheeran has never had a song that could be considered a mediocre “filler” -- even his lesser-known songs are just as good, if not better, than his popular ones. “Bloodstream” is such an example. Check it out below.
Think: smoke, bloody knuckles, and glistening oceans.
