Ahhhhh, Shippensburg University. So many unique people and experiences to meet and to have.
When you first get here, there are so many new things to get used to, but if there's one thing that sticks out right from the beginning, it's the smells.Though after your first semester you come to expect these, it always takes some time for returning students to reacclimate.
So, here are the top five smells all Shippensburg University students know too well, ranked from worst to least-worst.
1. The distant yet ever-present smell of cow manure.
Regardless if you live on or off campus, chances are this is the first thing you're going to smell in the morning. For locals and people who aren't that far from home anyway, this is a fact of life, but for the rest of us, it's a daily struggle.
2. The smell of a sweaty frathouse basement.
Like most other state universities, Greek life tends to dominate the social scene here at Shippensburg University, and more often than not your weekends out will be spent in the basement of some house whose letters you can't even pronounce. All you know is that you can smell a thousand sweaty armpits, but who cares? You're at a party, it comes with the territory.
3. Greasy C.U.B. food.
The C.U.B., for the most part, serves as the center of daily life here at Shippensburg, and useful as it is for us students, just walking into the food court can be enough to make you break out sometimes.
4. The smell of liquor on people coming back from Richard on a weekend.
Seriously, sometimes it's so bad that you feel like you were right there chugging their bottle with them.
5. Freshly ground coffee at Starbucks.
The most pleasant thing on this list, and the only reason half of us even go to the library at all. You can always trust Starbucks to wake you and your nose up.
