5 Tip-Offs Your Mom And Your Best Friend Are One In The Same

My mom and I have had quite the relationship over the past almost 21 years. When I was little my mom came to everything I had at school, lead my girl scout troop, and made every birthday party perfect. In middle school and high school, I was the typical angsty teenager. I was pretty mean to her and she "embarrassed" me everywhere we went.

Now that I'm in college, I can say for certain that my mom is my absolute best friend.

1. You talk (text or phone call) every day

My freshman year, it was my mom calling me to check in on how school was and how my new life in college was. Now that I'm a Junior, I am the one that calls her to talk about nothing. I call her when I'm walking to class or coming home for work, just to tell her minor details about my day. I honestly probably annoy her with how much I call her, but that's what daughters do.

2. She is the first person you call or text for advice

Whether it's asking outfit advice (my mom majored in fashion merchandise) or if the food in my fridge is good or not, she is the first person I call.

3. And when it's advice about boys, no one hears it before your mom

My mom knows my boy history and isn't surprised when I tell her I like a boy one day and then the next I'm like "LOL never mind." As much as I don't want to admit it, she's usually pretty good at figuring out who's a douche bag and who's worth my time.

4. When you see an event on facebook you say "Wow, that'd be so fun for mom and me to go to"

Just in the past week, I've seen two concerts and a 5K (which we would walk) on Facebook that I literally said this out loud to. And all of these things, of course, means going out to eat to a good place to eat after. We're foodies, what can I say?

5. You feel so lucky to have such a strong, beautiful, and inspiring woman in your life

All true and VERY VERY VERY lucky.

Love you mom. To the moon and back and more.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
