Mom-in' ain't easy

We know them, we love them- mom friends! They love us, they feed us, they keep us safe. Every group has one, every group needs one, and if you find this article all too relatable, chances are- you are one!

1. Your friends have to text you as soon as they get home.

As the mom friend, it is your duty to make sure your friends get home safe. When they leave your house, you walk them out and don't go back inside until they drive off. Your neighbors probably know you as the weird girl that stands in her driveway or at her door shouting "I LOVE YOU! TEXT ME WHEN YOU GET HOME SAFE" at everyone who leaves your house.

2. You and Mary Poppins have the same purse.

On trips, people actually refer to you as "mom". You are prepared for anything. Advil? Got it. Sunscreen? Got it. Snacks? Got it. Chinese throwing star? You betcha. We are forever over-prepared and always have enough to share with those around us. You've probably heard "hey, can I stick my keys in your purse?" more times than you can count. (Bonus mom points if you've actually ventured into the world of mom backpacks at amusement parks.)

3. Everyone goes to you for advice.

You have a heart for everyone and it shows. You always know what's going on because everyone in your friend group is asking you what they should do about a situation. People feel comfort in your mom-ness and trust your wisdom.

4. The mom "sixth sense" has set in early.

Your friends don't have to tell you if something is wrong because you already know. You have developed the innate mom sixth sense at an early age. This sixth sense isn't just extended to your friends, chances are you've probably found yourself consoling upset strangers as well. You can sense when someone is hurting and it's against your nature not to help them.

5. You're a mom friend to all.

You have a such a genuine love for people that sometimes it comes off as overbearing. You are a mom friend to all. Mom friends are people who love even when it's not convenient. They look at all people without judgment and understand the misunderstood.

To all my mom friends out there, I salute you. From the regular three hour long heart-to-hearts with friends inside your car to the depths of your mom amusement park backpack- you deserve the world and more!

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
