5 Signs You Eat Mexican Food Too Much

I mean, can you really ever eat too much Mexican food???

Everyone has their favorite places to eat or their favorite type of food. For my friends and I, Mexican food is our weakness. My friends and I have a local place, Los Tarasco’s in Tuscaloosa, that we visit at least once a week, and it is AWESOME. Here are some tell-tale signs you, like me, eat Mexican food way too much.

1. You have a nickname for the restaurant.

We have started calling Los Tarasco’s “LT” as we are all far too lazy to actually type out the words, and we go there so much we all know exactly what someone means when they type LT in a group message.

2. The waiters remember how you split the checks.

Within my main group of friends, we have one married couple. When the servers used to ask if it was all separate, we always tried to awkwardly explain who was with who. Now when we go, the waiters know who is together and who is on their own check.

3. You know what all the food is without pictures to guide you.

In the beginning, I needed to read the full explanation of what I was ordering to understand what I was going to get. Now, I'm an old pro. I don't even need to google pictures of the food anymore to be sure I'm going to like it!

4. Similar to number 3, you don't even glance at the menu anymore.

We go so much now that at this point, the menus are just spill hazards for us. We all know a few items we like and order from memory rather than searching the menu

5. You are seated in the same area every time.

Now, this may just be coincidence, but every time we go now, we always sit in the back room. I know this could be mere chance, but it’s hard for me to believe that we ALWAYS sit in the same spot out of luck. They know we are loud and hide us in the back.

If any of these apply to you, you probably eat WAY too much Mexican food. That’s okay though, you are not alone.

If you’re local to Tuscaloosa or happen to be here for any reason (football, let's get real), check out Los Tarasco’s Facebook page for details and even try it out sometime! I promise you won’t be disappointed!!!!!

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
