Greek Life is a wonderful thing. Joining a sorority is one of the best decisions I have ever made, because in any sorority you can find lifelong friends and sisters as well as involvement and leadership. Having said that, Delta Zeta stands out to me in such a big way, and I'm grateful to be part of such a wonderful group of women. Here are five things that you already know to be true if you are lucky enough to be a Delta Zeta.
1. The colors pink and green are close to your heart
As a sister of Delta Zeta, you probably wear these two colors all the time. There is also a good chance that your notebooks, backpacks, tumblers, phone case, and dorm decorations are also in these colors (and most likely in our Lilly print) because we're sorority girls and that's how we do things.
2. You're obsessed with turtles
Every sorority has its mascot, and ours is the turtle. That fact combined with the fact that we're, well, girls should explain enough. Besides, who doesn't love an adorable baby turtle?
3. You have a soft spot for the support of speech and hearing
Because of our partnership with, and support of, the Starkey Hearing Foundation and the Painted Turtle Camp, we DZ's naturally want to do all that we can to help the hearing impaired live normal lives. It's a cause that we hold near and dear to us.
4. October 24th is one of the most important days of the year for you
On the anniversary of the day that six lovely ladies- Alfa Lloyd, Anna Keen, Anne Simmons, Julia Bishop, Mary Collins, and Mabelle Minton- founded our sorority, we gather together for our Founder's Day ceremony and celebrate the wonderful group of women who made us and acknowledge that without them we wouldn't be who we are today.
5. You would do anything for your sisters
Of course this is true for any sorority, but Delta Zetas always stick together. Loyal friends and sisters are what each and every one of us needs, so we try to be that for one another. A true Delta Zeta always looks out for her sisters.
