I've heard from many people that the spring semester goes by quickly. But don't let the good times go. Here are some tips and tricks for making the best of the rest of your year!

1. Sleep Often

Personally, my commute is two and a half hours, equating to five hours each day. So when do I sleep? I make sure that my work gets started on my train-ferry-bus ride so that by the time I get home there isn't much left to do and I can get to sleep right away. However, that's in an ideal world. I recommend avoiding procrastination for a better night's sleep. You should also limit school-day partying and don't dawdle on your way home.

2. Study, Like Actually Study

Why are you in college if you aren't planning to be successful? Studying is the core of attending university, but it shouldn't take away from everything else. Over-studying is definitely something that has happened to me as a student not only in college but in middle school and high school as well.

Certain professors will give you specific amounts of time they want you to study each day. I recommend studying where you personally feel comfortable. If you aren't doing work on your commute -- study! If you find yourself scrolling through cyber space -- study! Making time is easy.

3. Go To Class

While this wasn't a big issue for me, I can say it is dangerous when you have an early class. Here is another, "Why else would you go to college?" moment. Attending class, depending on your professor, is where you obtain the most information for exams, for your personal use and for the future. It also gives you time to make friends, who you can easily collaborate with for group projects and future assignments. Classwork is important because it can help you make friends, which is important in a commuter school.

4. Embrace "Me Time"

If you've made a group of friends, this advice is for you. If you've been having trouble making friends, you're already one step ahead. Having time to yourself is very important, especially if you are dorming. Every now and then, skip out on lunch with friends and treat yourself to a 5 star meal at Panda Express. Walk yourself to Central Park and read a book. Get your nails and toes done while listening to J. Cole. Me time is definitely going to be a calming moment in your busy spring schedule.

5. Have Fun

The last, "Why else would you go to college?" moment. If you are a freshman, this is your first real spring break. Plan something with your friends and if things don't work, plan in advance for the summer! Set up a loving date for Valentine's Day. Celebrate womanhood during Women's History Month. Plan a good joke for April Fool's Day and break out your all white outfit for Memorial Day! College, while stressful, can be about fun if you plan accordingly.

Remember these five things and you will have a great spring semester. I wish you the best of luck and the greatest of times from now until finals!

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
