5 Reasons Why We Love William And Kate

You don’t have to be from the U.K. to keep up with England’s famous royal family, as they are adored globally. In particular, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge (better known as Prince William and Kate Middleton) along with their young heirs to the throne Prince George and Princess Charlotte, have effortlessly managed to steal the hearts of billions. In celebration of their fifth anniversary on April 29, here are five reasons why we love them.

1. Their love story is a real life fairytale

Boy meets girl, boy likes girl, girl finds out boy is the future King of England, boy and girl date, boy and girl get married and live happily ever after. When Will and Kate announced their engagement in the fall of 2010, their love story was laid out for the world to see. Their own twist on the classic Cinderella tale of the prince falling in love with the commoner fascinated everyone, because really, who doesn’t love a good fairytale?

2. William is always protective of Kate

Having been in the spotlight since the day he was born, William had grown very accustomed to constant media attention by the time he had met Kate at the University of St. Andrews. As Kate was quickly thrust into the public eye, William was always beside her to help her adapt to her new lifestyle.

3. They're great parents

Not long after their grand and historic wedding did questions begin to swirl over when the royal couple would produce an heir to the throne. When their firstborn, Prince George, was born in July 2013, the world instantly fell in love with the little royal and couldn’t wait to see him grow up. There was equal excitement during Kate’s second pregnancy and the arrival of George’s little sister, Princess Charlotte. Since they became parents, William and Kate have put their children first and focus on them before any royal duty.

4. They're down to earth

It could surely be easy to get carried away when you are a monarch and have all the money, fame and power in the world. However, William and Kate maintain a relatively normal lifestyle through it all, an attribute many relate to William’s own upbringing by the late Princess Diana. From regularly attending sporting events to opting for residing in the quiet countryside following Charlotte’s birth, the Duke and Duchess are just like us.

5. They're genuinely in love

While they could easily hold back from telling the public too much about their lives, William and Kate have spoken about each other and their relationship numerous times. Every time they speak lovingly about each other, they redefine relationship goals. Kate has said of her husband, “I'm very, very lucky. He looks after me as much as possible,” while William has said, “When I first met Kate, I knew there was something very special about her. I knew there was possibly something that I wanted to explore there. We ended up being friends for a while and that just sort of was a good foundation. Because I do generally believe now that being friends with one another is a massive advantage. And It just went from there.” Swoon.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
