5 Reasons Why The Upcoming Fall Season Will Be The Best

With summer coming to an end, school is right around the corner. While you may not be excited due to the over expenses of books or your room and board deposit, I am here to remind you of the wonderful things that follow the start of the school year. Exchanging bikinis for wool sweaters and socks, autumn is one of the most desirable seasons yet. Here is a list of five reasons that you should be looking forward to the upcoming fall season.

1. Scenery

While everyone enjoys sunny and 75°, we also need to show appreciation for the change in scenery as we transition into the colder months. As the ground becomes chilly and the leaves start to fall, we are able to go outside and experience a world like never before. As the days grow shorter and the nights grow longer we are blanketed with the oranges, yellows and reds of the trees. And while the biting wind blows and our faces grow pink, we remain delighted with our surroundings because we live in a place where we can experience all four seasons in one year.

2. Clothing

Transitioning into autumn means that hats and boots become a necessity. People will be spotted wearing all shades of caramel and colors of wine. We will be snuggled in the comfort of our scarves and thankful when the sun peeks our to see us because when it shines you can feel the warmth of it on your skin. Leggings and yoga pants will dominate the lives of girls and women, because let's be real, they go with absolutely everything. Oversize sweaters will be favored by all, not only because they are comfy, but it will also allow us to hide the weight that we will gain as we await hibernation in the winter time.

3. Accessories

Autumn allows us to express the edgy side of our wardrobe. As us girls get ready for the season to hit, we stock up on numerous lipstick colors that consist of deep reds, plums and browns. Our nails will be found in colors of taupe and mauve, and plenty of rings on all fingers for the finishing touch.

4. Traditional Food

Lets be real, as the season of fall begins, we will crave a plethora of warm foods to allow ourselves to cuddle into bed comfortably at night. Such as soups and mashed potatoes, cooked vegetables and pies will also be sprawled out on the table as far as the eye can see. Pumpkin seeds will be thrown into the oven, and there will be lines at Starbucks as everyone craves the delight of the pumpkin spice latte.

5. Decor

As we approach holidays such as Halloween and Thanksgiving, we will be able to find fall themed decor everywhere that we turn. Whether it is the leaf decals on the window, or the fabric greetings that your mom hangs on your front door. Autumn colored throw blankets, or the overwhelming smell of apple cider and hazelnut. Throw pillows will be changed, and even though the skies continue to grow grey, we will always be surrounded by the brightness of the colors of fall.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
