Shark week. A week we all know and for the most part love, what could be more exciting than watching sharks, seeing attacks, and listening to countless people who proudly claim the title shark expert. In honor of this great week here is a list of 5 reasons why shark week is so loved by many.
First and foremost (not to mention my favorite) - the drinking games.
There are few qualities I appreciate more in people than the ability to make a drinking game up for anything; let alone shark week. Let me tell you these drinking games are nothing short of entertaining. So whether you're hosting a viewing party or watching alone in your parents basement, google "shark week drinking games" and the week will be 10x more exciting than usual.
(Please drink responsibly)
The music.
Or lack of. If you've ever watched shark week you would think that the jaws theme song is the song that exists. But hey I get it, the increasing tempo of "duh nuh, duh nuh, duh nah, duhnuh duhnuh duhnuh duuuuuu" can be suspenseful for the upcoming vicious shark attack and also you think shark attack you think jaws so what could be more suiting!
The accents.
For some reason there is something about Australian accents that makes everything so much better. This may sound twisted but something about hearing about a person getting brutally attacked by a great white shark just sounds so much more enticing when being narrated by an Australian man.
The reenactments of attacks.
Huge props and kudos to all you shark attack victim survivors, you've done the unthinkable. So first let me ask you this, how on earth did you survive being attacked by a shark?? That's impressive, really you have an incredible story to tell for generations. But not only were you strong even to survive the attack, you're able to reminisce on it like it was an everyday event! So here's to you shark attack victims, you rock.
Lastly, the names they give the sharks.
There's something about a shark named Bob or Larry that really tones down there intimidation factor, but I guess I can just leave the naming up to the shark experts because well they are the experts.
So enjoy this week while it's here, and once it's over "live every week like it's shark week," just as Tracey Morgan advises us to do.
