5 Reasons Why My Dad Is My Best Friend

I am so grateful to have a dad like mine. Growing up and now my dad is always there for me when I need him to be. I don't remember a time when he wasn't. As his birthday rolls around I decided to make this article all about us! There are many reasons why my dad is my best friend, but I can only choose so many, so here they are:

1. Our past annual Father-Daughter Dances.

Although I am done with high school and we have no more dances together I will always remember our great times we had at each one. I wouldn't have wanted to enjoy the day with anyone else. So, thanks for dancing to each song from "Footloose" to "Cake By The Ocean".

2. Our inside jokes.

Because we have so many inside jokes there is never a dull moment between us. Whether we crack a joke on something funny that happened or each other we are always laughing. Thanks for making everyday funny dad!

3. He has always encouraged me when I decided to try a new thing.

Whether it was trying out a sport (Rugby, didn't work out) or picking up a new hobby (Violin, didn't work out either), dad has always been on the sidelines cheering me on. He always stands beside me even when he knows I may not follow through with something. Thanks dad for always being behind me when I don't think I am going to need it.

4. Growing up with two brothers, Dad has always tried to help me in sports.

He would practice volleyball with me in the backyard for hours and even coached my basketball team with my mom. Dad always encouraged me to try softball by whipping the ball at me while we played outside in the yard. Thanks for all the tips on and off the bench!

5. Lastly, he always treats me like a princess!

Being the youngest and only girl, Dad always does his best to give me what I ask for and more. Whether it is a pair of socks or a trip to Europe, he bends over backwards everyday and never complains. He always finds a way to surprise me with something and I am so grateful, even though I don't say it often. Thank you for treating me like a real princess.

Thank you Dad for everything you have given me and all you have done to make me happy. I am so proud to call you my dad and best friend. Happy Birthday!

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
