One of the best parts of joining a sorority is going through reveal week. It's a week where you get gifts from a sister who will help you through initiation. She may also become one of your best friends. These sisters are usually referred to as a big, but in Alpha Delta Pi we refer to them as our big diamond sister. My big diamond sister hasn't been in my life for long, but she has already impacted it in a huge way. She is the absolute best and these are five reasons why.
1. She buys me food.
Let's be honest, food is one of the best things you can give someone. My big diamond sister always offers to pay or buy me food. She is so selfless. I absolutely hate when people spend money on me, but she always insist because she would rather spoil me. Who doesn't love when someone wants to feed them?
2. She never makes me feel like a burden.
My big diamond doesn't care if I text her at one o'clock in the morning (well she might, but she doesn't tell me) because she will always be there for me. She will listen to me complain even if it takes her a while to text back. She doesn't think I am annoying even when I send 50 million text in a row. She will always respond. She is there for me when I need her, and she is there when I don't need her. She cares so much and doesn't care how big or small the problem is. She never makes me feel like I can't confide in her.
3. She supports me in every way possible.
All your number one cheerleaders are immediately put to shame when you get your big diamond sister. She always supports me. She will share my post on Facebook with pride and automatic likes on all of my Instagram pictures. She doesn't just support me on social media, though. She supports what I want to do in life. She supports my choices and my goals. She never makes me feel like I am not enough because she always by my side cheering me up.
4. She never judges me.
My big diamond and I have very different taste in colors, music, television shows, and so much more. That doesn't matter to her though. She is still willing to compromise with what I like. She will play my favorite band because she knows I love them even if she doesn't. She is always willing to listen to what I send her even it's the weirdest music on this planet. Our styles my be completely different, but she never judges me for that.
5. She is my best friend.
I may not have known my big diamond sister for long, but she is already my best friend. She is the person I go to with anything. She listens with open arms. She cares so much for me and I am completely grateful for that. When people say it's not just for four years, it's for life, I look to her and I know it's true.
