5 Reasons Why I Love My Pittie

In light of the recent laws that have been passed and halted in Montreal, I thought it would be a great time to talk about my pit bull, Jedi. Here are 5 reasons why I love my pittie:

1. He is the best snuggle buddy.

Seriously. My small dogs could not care less about cuddling with me for any period of time. But Jedi? He has to be my little spoon. Or right up on my lap. If I am trying to cuddle up with my boyfriend, he will forcibly work his way in between us to achieve maximum snuggle.

2. He makes the most entertaining noises.

He snores. LOUD. When he yawns, somehow these delicate squeaks emerge. When I ask "do you wanna go for a walk?" he turns into a puppy and squawks to show his excitement!

3. He is a delicate princess.

Jedi has to be in bed by 10 or he will throw himself of the ground and huff until I go off to bed with him. If I am not up in a timely manner in the morning he will come and yawn (very loudly) into my face to get me up to do his bidding. And if I so much as look at him wrong, he will pout until I love him up and offer a treat for forgiveness.

4. He is a constant dreamer.

Almost the moment he falls asleep, Jedi is dreaming. His paws run, his nose sniffs, and he will make everything from soft woofs to full on elephant sounds. I wish I could see into his big head to know what vivid dreams he has.

5. He is overflowing with love.

He loves everyone. And I mean everyone. (Except squirrels. Those guys are shifty). He loves when kids come and hug him around the neck. He loves to kiss faces, hands, feet, ANYTHING he can get his face on. He wants to kiss as many people as possible to show just how much he loves them.

Jedi was a shelter dog before he came into my life though the trial and error of friends of friends. I don't know his past or where he came from before the shelter. But whatever he has been through, this pitties heart is overflowing with love. With the fight for their lives currently on hold in Montreal after a total ban on the breed and any dogs that resemble them, I have seen an outpouring of love for these dogs, and hope that these legislators see reason. This will be a crucial moment for all "bully breeds". Do we continue to blame an entire breed for the actions of cruel owners? When do we start putting the blame on those who are unfit to care for these animals? Those who are taking advantage of their extremely loyal and protective natures? I see a government body trying to kill these "devil dogs" then look at my own pittie who is afraid of trash bags and will hold my boyfriends socks when he is gone. It is time to stop blaming these innocent dogs and start finding those responsible for their abuse and manipulation.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
