5 Reasons Why I Keep Up With The Kardashians
Screener

I’m going to be real here – I adore "Keeping Up With The Kardashians." Whether it’s on television, over SnapChat or some other form of Instagram, I can pretty much tell you what every member of the Kardashian clan is up to at all times.

Obviously, given the show’s hiatus taken due to Kim Kardashian-West’s armed robbery incident in Paris, I’ve been going through major withdrawals. Not even Revenge Body with Khloe Kardashian has been giving me my weekly fix of the Kardashian clan and all of their shenanigans.

I often catch a lot of crap for following the Kardashians so closely. Some tell me I’m an idiot for watching such trashy, mind-numbing television; others tell me I’m stupid for looking up to them.

But, I do have a reason for looking up to the powerhouse that is the Kardashian sisters.

1. They made a brand solely based on being themselves.

Sure they model, do appearances, have shows, clothing lines, makeup, etc., but for the most part, the Kardashians started off making their money by being just who they are. Their television show started off chronicling their rise to the top (remember when they lived in a relatively small [for them] size house with absolutely horrid décor?) One of the only reasons the Kardashians even became famous, besides the fact that Kris Jenner (or is it Kardashian now?) was married to Robert Kardashian, one of the famed defense lawyers for O.J. Simpson during the infamous Nicole Brown-Simpson murder case in the 90s, is Kim’s sex tape with Ray-J. After that, it seemed to catapult her into the spotlight – and nothing brought her back after that.

2. They are not afraid to be their authentic selves, no matter how ridiculous or dramatic.

Yes, I know that the show is reality television and most likely a bit (or a lot) scripted, but regardless, these women are themselves on and off-camera. They’re super close, supportive and a little – or a lot – dramatic. But besides all of that, there’s one thing that everyone can give them credit for: They are who they are, and they don’t apologize for it. I think we all can learn a thing or two from them. Be yourself. If the Kardashians have so many followers and fans, you are bound to find people who love you for exactly who you are, ridiculousness and all.

3. They are strong women.

It’s a fact that the Kardashian women have been through a lot. With Kim’s three marriages, Khloe’s marriage to Lamar Odom, then divorce, then calling off the divorce due to his medical problems, to finally getting the divorce finalized, to Kourtney’s 10, almost 11 year, battle with Scott Disick and his partying ways, these women manage to keep their lives together, continue to make millions and deal with all of the curveballs thrown their way. It’s yet to be seen exactly how Kim deals with the Paris robbery or Kanye’s subsequent psychotic (was it ever actually confirmed as psychotic?) breakdown and hospitalization, but I am sure she remains strong, even if she does shed a few tears and has to go through a few rounds of therapy. And, let's not forget that Kris Jenner had the bombshell of her life when she found out Caitlyn - formerly known as Bruce - Jenner was transgender and didn't want to be a boy or a husband.

4. They have built a following of people that are willing to sit and watch them work out.

If you’re on SnapChat and follow any of the Kardashian clan, I’m sure you know that many of their SnapChat stories are filled with their daily workouts. And, the best part is, there are probably millions of people that actually watch these stories every day (I know I do). How many other people do you know that SnapChat their workouts day in and day out while simultaneously pulling in millions of viewers who want to see exactly what it is Kourtney is doing in the gym on a Tuesday morning.

5. Their houses are interior decoration goals.

Two of the houses we see the most on "Keeping Up With The Kardashians" are Khloe’s and Kourtney’s. I don’t know about you, but I am absolutely in love with the way they have designed their houses. I especially love the fire pit outside of Kourtney’s house, right by the pool, that is constantly going at night. It’s just super peaceful, and honestly, something I would love to have at my own house one day. As for Khloe, her pool lounge area and her patio area are absolutely amazing. There’s a reason both of these women were featured in "Architectural Digest." They’ve got great taste.

I know some of you may read this and roll your eyes, while others may read this and agree with every single thing I am saying. Whether the Kardashians are your cup of tea or not, you have to admit one thing: They are talented in that they made a name of themselves based solely off of who they are - or maybe the right word is "business savvy."

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
