1. They will always be honest with you
It is a basic male instinct to tell you exactly what they think…which can be good or bad. In most cases you hate them for it in the moment but thank them for it in the end. Whether it be that you are overreacting about something or you are questioning whether your outfit looks bad, they will be straight up with you which is almost always much appreciated (once you get past the anger).
2. They don’t care for drama
We all know girls love or love to hate drama. Guys just hate it as the basic general rule of the guy code. The amount of times us girls say we wish we were guys when it comes to fighting and drama is too many to count. Guys have a way of letting things go which seems completely incomprehensible for girls. This makes having guy best friends even better. You can almost guarantee there will be no drama and you will never have to worry about them getting mad at you for “stupid” things.
3. They are great to vent to
Whether they know what the background information is or not, they are willing to listen. They usually have no opinion on what it is you are venting about, so you can rest assured that they have no bias in the situation. Guys usually have a more level headed attitude when it comes to drama filled situations so they can often give very helpful advice in return, whether you want to hear it or not. They are the perfect people to vent to since you can trust and guarantee that it won’t get out, which let’s be honest, is a major concern when venting to girls.
4. They would protect you like their own sister
Nothing feels better than knowing that someone has your back, literally. You can always count on a guy friend to protect you in any crazy girl altercation or intimidating guy situation. They will always be there to help and basically defend you…even if they don’t care what the argument is about. Let’s face it, they just want it to be done so you can move on from the drama and grab some food with them. Everyone needs a friend that they can feel safe with and that they know will absolutely be there for them day and night - just a quick text message away.
5. They are some of the best friends you could ever have
Guy friends are crucial in any persons’ life. While nothing beats the bond between girlfriends, there is just something different when it comes to guy-girl friendships. They can be brotherly-sisterly and love-hate but you know in the end it’s a great friendship. You may fight like an old married couple or want to punch them at times like your own siblings, but in the end they are very important to have in your life.
