Every friend group is different, and in these friend groups, the members have roles. Typically I'm the "mom" friend. I don't drink or smoke and I like to be in bed before 10, so naturally, I get labeled as the "mom" of the group. The wild and out of control friend is the party animal. And so on, you get the picture. But what's a Devon? A Devon is like your best friend and brother all in one. Here are five of the best reasons every friend group needs a Devon.

1. A Devon will send you the best memes.

Okay so this may sound super lame to a lot of people, but if you're in college then you know memes are life. If you have a Devon friend then you'll always have the best and funniest memes-- and bonus, you'll see them before they go viral.

2. A Devon is the funniest person you know.

Aside from laughing from the memes he sends you, he'll do anything to make you laugh. He'll do anything from putting on a wig and go ham in Rock Band to photoshopping your face into random pictures just to entertain your friend group.

Let me introduce you all to the "Holy Family"

3. Devons are the most chill people around.

A Devon is somebody that will just be cool with hanging out playing Mario Cart. You can even go on late night cookie runs with a Devon. Because let's be real, can we even be friends if you aren't down for late night cookie runs?

4. Devons are the most popular people around.

A Devon friend can get along with anyone. They can go out and just make friends like it's magic. A Devon can just look at somebody and say "Hi," and all of a sudden they have a whole new friend. Wherever they go there are at least 3 people that know them.

5. Devons will protect you like an older brother.

If anyone gets messed with in a friend group, the Devon friend is there with encouraging words and he's already plotting revenge. Watch out-- you never know what's going to happen to your car when you mess with somebody who has a Devon in their life!

Bonus: Devons stand up for what they believe in, no matter what other people might say.

Honestly, Devons are just hands down the best type of people. Every friend group needs one Devon; there isn't room for two, plus one is enough for any group no matter how big or small. If your group doesn't have a Devon, you're really missing out.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
