One of the things I worried most about heading to college was if I was going to make friends or not. I knew some people going in to college, but we didn't exactly have a lot in common. It was nice to see a friendly face around campus, but the friends I've made since then are the best.
1. You see them every day.
I'm not talking about high school friends, where you see them at school and then make plans to hang out, outside of school. I see my college friends literally every day, and we do almost everything together. We'll do homework together, venture to the cafeteria together, walk to classes together, etc. Having your best friends live ten feet away is pretty great.
2. They're always there to pick you up after a rough day.
No one else will understand the pains of a rough day like your college besties. They'll be there to tell you that it will be okay, and will support you no matter what happened that day.
3. They're always willing to try new food that isn't cafeteria food.
While the cafeteria food isn't disgusting, it gets a little old to eat the same thing day in, day out. This leads to multiple pizza parties or walks to Qdoba. These trips to get new food create the best memories that are fun to look back on the next time you try out a new place to eat.
4. There's always someone to hang out with.
With my friends, it seems like there's always someone to hang out with. When I get back from class there's a friendly face to talk about how class went or discuss plans for later that day. If I'm bored I can just walk next door and see who wants to do something.
5. You never seem to run out of things to talk about.
With so many of my friends, we were all involved in different things in high school, so we have tons of stories to tell and interests to share. Even if we're not all interested in the same things, there isn't a day that doesn't go by where I don't mind hearing about a story from high school, or talking about how classes went. I love that while we share different interests, we're all a close knit group.
While I've only known my friends in college for five months, I've never been closer to a group of people, and I can't wait to see where the future takes us.
