There isn't a day that goes by where I don't smile as a result of something my dogs did. Whether it's chasing their tales, "smiling" at me, or sprinting around the house, my puppy's always make me laugh. Dog's are remarkable creatures. Their intelligence, instinctive loyalty to their beloved owners and innate ability to make us happy are just a few of the thousands of reasons why humans will always need their K9 companions.
1. Dogs will always make you feel loved and needed.
Coming home from college, I am always greeted at the front door by my dogs. Their excitement level is enough to change my stressed and tired mood, and bring a smile to my face. Whenever I'm sad, my dogs come into bed with my and lay down- it's almost as if they know I'm sad, and in need of comfort. All dogs want to do is make their humans happy. They look to us for security, love and motivation.
2. Nothing beats a puppy smile.
After playing outside with your pup, giving them a treat, or a nice little hug to show you missed them- their expression changes. I swear when I pet my dogs after not seeing them for a few months they are smiling back at me. There aren't many things that warm the heart more than that.
3. You will never find a more loyal friend than a dog.
My old dog stayed by my mom's side all through her entire time battling cancer and going through chemo. It's like she knew that my mom wasn't okay and wanted to let her know that she was there to comfort her. Dog's will stay by their humans through happy days, hardship, illness and even death. They are truly there for the people that they love, until they can't be.
4. They will always be there to listen.
No matter how much you ramble on, how sad you are or how much you want to talk, your dog will always be there to listen. They genuinely make you feel that you're heard, and give that look that says "I hear you bud, let it out".
5. Your dog will always protect you.
Whether it's from the mailman or an actual intruder, your dog is hyper sensitive to what's going on around you. Your dog would risk their life to protect yours without even giving it a second thought.
Puppy's and dogs can brighten up the darkest of days. There isn't any mood that can't be lifted by holding a puppy, petting a dog, or taking a picture with one. Just seeing a dog significantly brightens my day. They are so innocent, so good and so perfect. We will always need a loyal, caring, cute protector- and dogs will always be that.
