5 Reasons SpongeBob Is Still Relevant In College

As I continue to grow up, I constantly look for different ways to de-stress. Personally, I always try to go for comic relief. More often then not, I find myself watching "SpongeBob SquarePants." Like never before, I have seen the reason that "SpongeBob SquarePants" remains a favorite among the millennial community as well as the children of today. He consistently provides great comic relief and faces the same everyday problems we all face. After watching SpongeBob, every Tuesday and Thursday afternoon, I have come to realize his relevance in my life even after all of these years.

1. Squidward's attitude towards life is how all college students feel.

Let's be honest, we all know this is how every college student feels right about now. Getting out of bed every morning is a struggle, and everyday around noon I understand why I shouldn't have gotten out of bed. Squidward has somehow been the spokesperson for college students everywhere.

2. SpongeBob's driving is what we wish we could drive like when we have road rage.

Whether the car in front of you stops short, or you're driving on campus and the students crossing the crosswalk take 10-minutes to cross. Driving like SpongeBob is an everyday thought. Every. Day.

3. SpongeBob wanting to stay a child forever is how you feel everyday.

Wanting to be in high school again when your professor just assigned a 5-page paper, a final project and you're trying to apply for an internship. Being in high school would be very nice right about now. Or even just nothing at all, either would be great.

4. Wanting to have as much energy as SpongeBob when working at your dead-end job.

Seriously, we want to have as much enthusiasm as SpongeBob, but we are really just like Squidward. Nothing like working long hours and weekends to make you understand why you're going to college. An expensive piece of paper will provide weekends off and paid vacations.

5. At the end of the day, you just want to have friends like SpongeBob's.

You may have one friend who drinks too much or another who is too into their looks, but they are you friends and you love them regardless. They will always be your friend regardless of how opposite from you they are.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
