6 Reasons Why You Should Start Bullet Journaling

You've seen them on Pinterest, Facebook, Tumblr, Instagram, etc.

Yes, indeed, bullet journals are very popular for their aesthetic appeal. The layouts and designs featured in bullet journal posts on social media or anywhere seem to look quite complex and require a lot of drawing or calligraphy skill. In actuality, bullet journals do not need to be the greatest art piece you have ever created.

Whatever you want to put in the bullet journal, you can put in it. That's the great thing about starting with a blank journal. You may not know what you're going to create, but it's original and it's you.

Everyone can create a bullet journal and everyone needing that extra bit of organization in their life should make a bullet journal, and I will tell you why.

1. You will become a lot more organized

Although bullet journals look like they are really time-consuming, they don't have to be if the purpose of your journal is to organize your life such as daily tasks, events, reminders, etc. Sure, designing specific pages might take up some more time, but that is all a part of the fun, right?

2. You will actually be excited about journaling

Buying new pens to journal with? Hell YEAH.

All the colors of pens, washi tapes, markers, stickers, notes, etc. make journaling so much more bright and entertaining. It brings such a fun aspect to something that is daily and mundane such as creating to-do lists or keeping a planner. Suddenly keeping track of your finances is scary but fun at the same time?

3. You can practice being creative

Bullet journaling won't take up a lot of time in your day if you do just a little bit every day. Plus, you get to train your organizational and designing skills by planning how you want your layout. Maybe one week you might want to try doing something new, why not? Bullet journaling is a stress-free and safe way to explore and try new things! It is also a great creative outlet especially if you don't normally do artistic activities in your free time.

4. It just looks good

No other words needed.

5. You will feel proud of yourself

Wouldn't you feel happy if you successfully made a beautiful bullet journal page? If there is a day where you did not do anything productive besides bullet journaling, that is still an accomplishment in itself and you should be proud!

6. Anyone can do it

A lot of designs are just composed of smaller basic shapes that everyone is able to draw! You can find a lot of inspiration and tutorials on Pinterest!

Overall, bullet journals are a perfect blend of a planner and sketchbook. I recently started one and now I have never felt more organized than before. I can easily find pages that I have written before instead of randomly scribbling something down on one page and giving up finding it days later. It is a feeling that really changes you.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
