5 Reasons I Am Grateful for My Older Brother
Danielle Taylor

Growing up, I wanted to be just like my brothers and never wanted to leave their side. I never realized how much my brothers meant to me until I moved away to college and didn't get to see them every day. These are just a few things I love about my brothers

  1. How protective they are over me. No matter how old I get they still always look out for me and still try to scare every guy I bring around.
  2. They keep me out of trouble. There were multiple times growing up that I would do something that could get me in major trouble with our parents, but they always covered for me and took the blame. One time I wrote on the walls in the hall with a marker and one of them totally got grounded for a week for me.
  3. They give the best advice. If I ever get in a rough place and need advice they are some of the first people I call to get advice and they are always right every single time, even though I hate to admit it.
  4. They keep my secrets. I can go to them and tell them all the stuff I cannot tell my parents and there is absolutely no judgment. I never get ratted out, even when I do make him mad.
  5. Our random road trips. When one of my brothers first turned 16 he was so excited to have his license and have the freedom to do everything, but he always had to take me with him. His first 6 months of driving I was always there because our parents didn't trust him to drive anywhere alone. Every time we went on our trips he always let me pick where we went to eat, but he knew every time it was going to be Chinese of course.
  6. Hot friends. Even though all their friends think of you as the annoying little sister, they still let you tag along because your brother doesn't know how to tell you no and even though he doesn’t want to admit it he likes having you around.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
