Ah, December is upon us. The most wonderful time of the year, that is, after college students around the country finish finals. As finals and deadlines approach, we may need some words of advice to push through to the finish line. Hopefully, these words of wisdom can help everyone find a little hope in the remnants of the semester and make finals suck a little less. As we begin the last month of 2016, and as finals approach, here are some quotes to help with finishing the fall 2016 semester strong.
1. "The way to get started is to quit talking and begin doing." - Walt Disney
Have a project deadline approaching and barely have anything done? Take wise Walt's advice and stop talking about how you have nothing done, and get started. That 10-minute conversation with a friend could be an extra 10 minutes of writing time or time to find your sources. So, take a deep breath, and dive into your work!
2. "I have fought the good fight. I have finished the race. I have kept the faith." - 2 Timothy 4:7
The Bible is full of so many wonderful words of motivation to finish. You've made it so far into the year. You can almost taste the end of the semester. You fought hard for your grades, you raced to submit things by their deadlines. You kept your focus this far, so why can't you for the last few weeks? I believe in you.
3. "You may not have had a good start, but you can have a good finish." - Joyce Meyer
If you are freshman like me, the beginning of the semester was rough. It took getting used to being on your own, new classes, higher expectations, changing study habits, and so much more. Everyone's year can have ups and downs, but now that it's almost over, make up for the rocky start. Knock the rest of the semester out of the park.
4. "You're off to great places. Today is your day. Your mountain is waiting, so get on your way." - Dr. Seuss
There's nothing out there that can stop you from finishing your dreams for this year. Take advantage of the time left in 2016 and do what your heart has been longing for this year. Bold, silly or simple as it may be, do it. This is your chance, seize the moment!
5. "Forward, forward, everywhere forward." - Boniface Wimmer
A lovely quote from the founder of my beloved Saint Vincent home. As this semester winds down, don't look back on your fails or mess ups from the past, keep going forward. This can be for anything in life, don't let the past control the future. Keep your head up and keep trucking though, eventually you'll reach the end.
